Nine Months Down—and Three to Go! Will You Reach Your Annual Business Goals?

We’ve entered the fourth quarter—how close are you to reaching your annual goals? If you’re well on your way, congratulations! If you still have a ways to go—or even if you’re not quite sure—it’s time to pause, collect your data and make one final push to reach your business goals for 2015. Here’s what you can do.

How to End Your Fourth Quarter with a Bang

Time goes by quickly! Now is the time to make a few quick adjustments as you close out 2015. Consider the following:

  • Move unfinishable projects to 2016. If you have items on your Q4 list that you have no possibility of completing this quarter, move them to the first quarter of 2016. That way, you can conserve valuable resources and focus more closely on the items that are within reach yet for 2015.
  • Choose the most important items to close out. Now, take a look at your list of open goals. What items will provide the most value to your business? Focus your energy and resources to go full speed ahead on those projects. And the more you can get done before the holiday season the better, since this is when productivity tends to lag.
  • Set—or adjust—steps to reach your goals. Even though it’s late in the year, you’ll still need a plan to get things done. If you already have a plan in place, you may wish to accelerate it to get everything finished in time.
  • Be a good coach. Trying to reach goals as the holiday rush hits can be easier if your staff is prepared. Take steps to give your employees the information and training they need to overcome increased workloads, customer concerns, common questions, etc.
  • Review and reduce expenses. If you’ll need increased funding to reach your goals, you should review your expenses and cut out anything that’s extra or unnecessary. Then you’ll have freed up financial resources you can put towards your other things.
  • Consider working with a recruiter. If you need to increase your staff to get your business past the fourth quarter push, it can help to work with a staffing agency. A recruiter will work with you to find best-matched candidates to meet your unique needs. He or she can also help you through other aspects of the hiring process, including interviewing and onboarding. That way, you’ll be able to focus more of your attention on management, and less on finding new workers.
